I know I've been AWOL lately - teacher's college is a truly busy place, so it's not easy to just up n' blog when I want...plus, its been a turbulent month so forgive me for not writing, its been 2 weeks and a day since my last blog...errr, skip that last part.
Anyhow, a true miracle of miracles happened tod..yesterday. Anyone who knows me well knows I'm a glasses-wearer, in fact I have been since age 8 or 9 - started young!
Anyhow, I swore I would never, ever wear contact lenses, as I have a severe phobia/paranoia about the touching of eyes - especially my own. In any event, I went shopping for a new pair of prescription sunglasses - as mine have broken - and lo and behold, the optometrist suggests going for contacts - and lemme just say this guy's a smooth talker - either that or the fact that I hadn't eaten all day was a huge contributer - 'cause the next thing I know I'm in his office chair, head tilted back and he's inserting "tester" contacts.
So there I am - less blind than normal - and I feel these annoying lil' water-based-gel-infused lenses rubbing the shite outta my nerve endings - something I'll told will last for 4 hours and then never happen again, not because they get used to it - but b/c it "dulls" the nerve endings! Oh joy!
Then, as I'm checkin' myself out sans glasses, I realize and think to myself "Shit!! How am I gonna get these out??"
So I guess I psyched myself out, b/c it took no word of a lie - 30 mins for him to remove them - b/c I kept shutting my eyes out of that very fear/discomfort aforementioned.
And to think, I'm debating the plusses of laser-eye surgery - to rid myself of the damned glasses issue once and for all - but the procedure itself involves consicousness, machines which hold open your eyelids oh and that pesky laser-beam cutting your retinas down to microscopic success?!
Oh, and on the bright side - I won Leaf tix!! woohoo!
More bloggin' as I get to it...patience is a virtue or something like that...
Done.
Peace.
Back.
